Russia Warns West Against Arming Ukraine with Nuclear Weapons, Citing WW3 Risk
Nov 27, 2024, 01:52 PM
The Kremlin has strongly condemned Western discussions about potentially arming Ukraine with nuclear weapons, calling such actions 'absolutely irresponsible' and 'insane'. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's spokesman, responded to a New York Times report suggesting that unidentified officials in the Biden administration were considering this option. The Russian Foreign Ministry echoed these sentiments, stating that deploying nuclear arms in Ukraine would be 'insane' and that preventing such a scenario was one of the reasons for Moscow's military involvement in Ukraine. The ministry also expressed concerns that the West could provide Ukraine with the opportunity to acquire nuclear weapons, potentially escalating tensions to the brink of World War III.
