Kiran Rao's film 'Laapataa Ladies' has been selected as India's official entry for the Best Foreign Film category at the 97th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars 2025. The Film Federation of India made the announcement, with the selection committee led by Jahnu Barua choosing the film from a list of 29 entries, including notable films like 'Animal' and 'All We Imagine as Light.' 'Laapataa Ladies,' a light-hearted satire on patriarchy, explores themes of gender equality and women's empowerment in rural India. The film is produced by Jio Studios and Aamir Khan Productions.
