VisitUber and Waymo to Exclusively Launch Autonomous Ride-Hailing in Austin and Atlanta by Early 2025
Sep 13, 2024, 01:35 PM
Uber Technologies Inc. and Waymo LLC, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., have announced an expansion of their partnership to introduce autonomous ride-hailing services in Austin, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia. Starting in early 2025, Uber riders in these cities will be able to hail Waymo's fully autonomous, all-electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles exclusively through the Uber app. Uber will be the exclusive supplier of Waymo vehicles in these cities and will manage the fleet, including maintenance duties. This collaboration aims to enhance Uber's autonomous vehicle ambitions and leverage Waymo's advanced self-driving technology. As a result of this announcement, Uber's stock rose by 6.5% in pre-market trading, while Tesla's stock saw a 1% decline.
