UAE Completes Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi
Sep 5, 2024, 03:40 PM
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the completion of the Arab world's first nuclear power plant, the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi. This milestone is considered a significant step in the UAE's energy strategy. The plant, built with South Korean technology, comprises four reactors, all of which are now in commercial operation. It is expected to generate 40 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity annually, meeting approximately 25% of the nation's electricity needs. This development is also notable for its environmental impact, as it will avoid the emission of 22.4 million tons of carbon dioxide annually.
