Delhi Govt Introduces 50% Reduction on Traffic Challans, 90-Day Payment Window
Sep 12, 2024, 05:37 AM
The Delhi government has introduced a provision to compound traffic offenses at 50% of the challan amount to ease legal processes and reduce court workload. Under the proposed rules, individuals can pay half of the challan amount on the spot. For example, if the challan is Rs 5,000, one can pay Rs 2,500 to settle the fine. This initiative aims to encourage timely payment of fines and reduce the burden on the judicial system. The government is also considering waiving 50% of the fine if dues are cleared within 90 days.
