Israeli Airstrike Targets Senior Hezbollah Commander Ali Karaki and Rocket Unit in Beirut
Sep 23, 2024, 06:23 PM
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a targeted airstrike in Beirut, aiming at senior Hezbollah commander Ali Karaki. Karaki, who is the head of Hezbollah's Southern Command and a member of its Jihad Council, was reportedly the third-highest official in the organization. The strike targeted an apartment in Beirut's southern suburbs, with reports indicating that six missiles were used. Initial reports suggested that Karaki might have been killed, but Hezbollah later issued a statement denying his death, claiming he is in good health and has been moved to a secure location. The airstrike is part of a series of recent Israeli operations targeting Hezbollah leaders, following the assassination of Ibrahim Aqil, the second-highest commander, a few days prior. According to Israeli military radio, the strike also targeted Hezbollah's rocket unit.
