The sequel nearly went straight to streaming on Max due to budget concerns, but Burton insisted on a theatrical release. Warner Bros. originally projected a budget of $147 million, which they deemed too risky. To secure the theatrical release, Burton agreed to lower the budget to under $100 million, and the principal cast accepted reduced upfront payments. The film's success has provided a much-needed boost for Warner Bros.
