Southwest Pilot David Allsop, 52, Arrested for DUI in Georgia, Causing 4-Hour Delay to Chicago Flight 3772
Jan 16, 2025, 05:13 AM
A Southwest Airlines pilot, David Paul Allsop, aged 52 and a resident of Bedford, New Hampshire, was arrested at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport in Georgia on Wednesday morning for driving under the influence. The arrest occurred as Allsop was preparing to captain Southwest Flight 3772 to Chicago. The flight experienced a delay from 6:05 a.m. to 10:56 a.m., departing shortly before 11 a.m. after Southwest Airlines found a replacement pilot. The airline confirmed that Allsop has been removed from duty pending an investigation. Southwest Airlines emphasized the importance of safety, stating that there is nothing more important than the safety of their employees and customers. The incident was reported after a TSA officer detected alcohol on Allsop, leading to his arrest by law enforcement officials. Allsop was charged with DUI and held on a $3,500 bond. Passengers were accommodated on other flights during the disruption.
