Enforcement Directorate Arrests Haryana Congress MLA Surender Panwar from Sonipat in Illegal Mining Case
Jul 20, 2024, 05:40 AM
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Haryana Congress MLA Surender Panwar in connection with an illegal mining case. Panwar, a 55-year-old legislator representing the Sonipat constituency, was taken into custody from his office in Ambala. The arrest follows multiple FIRs registered by the Haryana Police and subsequent raids on Panwar's premises in January. The case is linked to money laundering activities associated with illegal mining operations in the Yamunanagar area. Panwar was presented in the Ambala court before District and Sessions Judge Kanchan Mahi, where the ED may seek his remand. Haryana Minister Subhash Sudha stated that the government would take action against wrongdoers. The arrest comes at a time when Haryana is gearing up for assembly polls.
