Andhra Pradesh Forms Nine-Member SIT to Probe Tirupati Laddu Ghee Adulteration Allegations

The Andhra Pradesh government has formed a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of adulteration in the ghee used for the renowned laddus offered at the Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple in Tirupati. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced the formation of the SIT, which includes officers of IGP and DIG-level posts. The controversy arose amid claims of animal fat being mixed in the prasadam. The SIT will submit a report to the government, which will take action based on the findings. Additionally, the temple trust has formed a sensory panel to look into the matter, and purification rituals are underway to address public concerns. The vigilance department is also probing the issue, and the committee constituted by the sitting TTD executive officer is involved. The IGP of Guntur Range will head the SIT, and YSRCP has made allegations against the government regarding the issue.
