Early voting in North Carolina has reached a record high ahead of the 2024 presidential election, with over 4.4 million residents casting ballots in person. This represents approximately 80% of the expected electorate and surpasses the previous record set in 2020. The North Carolina State Board of Elections reported that turnout in western counties, which were hit by Hurricane Helene, outpaced the rest of the state. State officials noted that more than half of all eligible voters in North Carolina participated in early voting, with 56% turnout of eligible voters and 57% of voters already casting ballots.
