U.S. Strikes Over 75 ISIS Targets in Syria Using B-52s and F-15s
Dec 8, 2024, 07:56 PM
President Joe Biden announced that U.S. forces conducted dozens of precision airstrikes targeting Islamic State (ISIS) camps and operatives in central and eastern Syria, including the Deir Ezzor province, on December 8, 2024. The operation struck over 75 targets, utilizing multiple U.S. Air Force assets including B-52 bombers, F-15 fighter jets, and A-10 aircraft. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the strikes, stating that battle damage assessments are underway and there are no indications of civilian casualties. CENTCOM Commander General Michael Kurilla vowed, "We will hold them accountable," emphasizing the mission to prevent ISIS from reconstituting or conducting external operations. Biden remarked, "We're clear-eyed about the fact that ISIS will try to take advantage of any vacuum to reestablish its capability, to create a safe haven."
