China Bans Gallium, Germanium Exports to U.S. Starting December 3rd
Dec 3, 2024, 08:51 AM
China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Tuesday that it will strengthen export controls on certain dual-use items to the United States, including gallium, germanium, antimony, superhard materials, and graphite. The new measures, effective December 3rd, prohibit the export of these materials to U.S. military users or for military purposes. The ban, described as "in principle," aims to safeguard China's national security and interests and fulfill international obligations related to non-proliferation. These materials are critical for semiconductor production. The restrictions also impose stricter reviews on graphite exports.
