Western governments are alarmed at the unprecedented scale of Chinese espionage activities, with Western spy agencies sounding alarms over the new magnitude of China's intelligence operations. Last month, the FBI reported that a Chinese state-linked firm hacked 260,000 internet-connected devices, including cameras and routers, in the U.S., Britain, France, Romania, and elsewhere. The magnitude and persistence of these malign activities surpass those of the Kremlin during the Cold War.
