Kremlin Backs Trump's Stance Against Ukraine's Use of US ATACMS Missiles
Dec 13, 2024, 11:41 AM
The Kremlin has expressed its full agreement with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's opposition to Ukraine's use of U.S.-supplied ATACMS long-range missiles against Russian territory. Trump, in an interview with Time magazine, voiced his strong disagreement with the use of these weapons, stating that it escalates the conflict unnecessarily. This stance aligns with Moscow's position, which views the use of such weapons as a direct involvement of NATO in the ongoing conflict. The Kremlin's comments come in the context of a recent massive aerial attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which Russia claims was in retaliation for Ukraine's use of ATACMS missiles against its territory. Despite speculation about a possible ceasefire, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov insists that the prerequisites for peace talks with Ukraine have not yet been met, with Russia firing 93 missiles, 81 of which were shot down.
