Congressional Report: COVID-19 Likely Originated from US-Funded Gain-of-Function Research in Wuhan Lab

A two-year congressional investigation has concluded that the COVID-19 pandemic most likely originated from a lab leak at a Wuhan laboratory in China. The lab was reportedly conducting gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses, funded in part by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) until 2022. The investigation highlights that U.S. taxpayers indirectly financed this research, which involved intentionally manipulating viruses. The report also alleges efforts by key figures, including Anthony Fauci, to suppress information and obstruct investigations into the origins of COVID-19. It further notes that the research was subcontracted to China to bypass an Obama-era moratorium on gain-of-function studies.
