U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have surpassed the estimated Bitcoin holdings of Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin. As of December 6, 2024, these ETFs collectively hold over 1.1 million BTC, making them the largest Bitcoin holders globally. This milestone was achieved in less than a year since their launch, marking a significant moment in the financial investment landscape. According to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, the ETFs now hold approximately 1,104,534 BTC. The ETFs include prominent funds like $IBIT, $FBTC, $GBTC, $ARKB, $BITB, $HODL, $BRRR, $BTCO, and $EZBC. The growth of these ETFs has been described as 'mind-blowing' by industry observers, reflecting the rapid institutional adoption of Bitcoin.
