Israeli Fighter Jets Strike Tulkarm Camp in West Bank, Killing 14 Including Islamic Jihad Leader
Oct 3, 2024, 07:41 PM
Israeli forces conducted an airstrike using fighter jets on Al-Hamam neighborhood in Tulkarm refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 Palestinians, according to the Palestinian Authority's Health Ministry. The operation was a joint effort involving the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency. Israeli military sources stated that the strike targeted a building housing terrorists, and one of those killed was reportedly Ghaith Radwan, a senior member of Islamic Jihad in Tulkarm. This marks the first time since the Second Intifada that Israel has used fighter jets to carry out airstrikes in the West Bank, an area where such use of air power is extremely rare. The Palestinian Red Crescent initially reported five casualties, but the death toll was later updated.
