Russia and North Korea Finalize Major Defense Pact, Their Biggest Since Cold War
Nov 11, 2024, 11:07 PM
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty with North Korea, establishing a mutual defense pact between the two nations. The treaty, initially signed by the countries' leaders in June, calls for each side to come to the other's aid in the event of an armed attack. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ratified the agreement two days after Putin, finalizing the defense pact. The move deepens security cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang and is considered both countries’ biggest defense deal since the end of the Cold War.
