EU Disburses First €3 Billion Tranche to Ukraine From $50 Billion G7 Loan Package

The European Union has disbursed the first tranche of €3 billion to Ukraine as part of a €45 billion loan package agreed upon by the G7 countries, totaling $50 billion. This initial payment from the EU, announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, is funded by the proceeds of frozen Russian assets. The EU's contribution to the G7 loan totals €18.1 billion, aimed at providing Ukraine with the financial means to continue its defense against Russian aggression. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal confirmed the receipt of the funds, emphasizing their importance for Ukraine's resilience and economic stability amidst ongoing conflict.
