Federal Appeals Court Pauses Trump Classified Documents Case Until Dec. 2 at Special Counsel's Request
Nov 16, 2024, 04:00 PM
Special Counsel Jack Smith has successfully requested the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit to pause the proceedings in the classified documents case against President-elect Donald Trump. The court granted the request to halt the case until December 2. This development follows Smith's initial filing on Nov. 13 to pause the appeal, which aims to revive the criminal case accusing Trump of mishandling classified documents after leaving the White House. The pause was sought due to Trump's recent election victory. Judge Cannon had previously dismissed the indictment based on Smith's unconstitutional appointment.
