New York's Highest Court Declines Trump's Gag Order Appeal in Hush Money Case
Jun 18, 2024, 03:13 PM
New York's highest court has declined to hear former President Donald Trump's appeal of the gag order imposed in his criminal hush money case. The New York Court of Appeals dismissed the appeal on the grounds that no substantial constitutional question was directly involved, according to a decision list posted Tuesday. The gag order, which remains in effect, restricts Trump from making public statements about witnesses, jurors, and court staff involved in the case. Trump, who was recently convicted of 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records, sought to lift the gag order ahead of his July 11 sentencing. The trial was overseen by Justice Merchan.
