Biden's Final Actions Include $5.9 Billion More in Aid to Ukraine, Following $5.2 Billion and $2 Billion
Jan 3, 2025, 05:13 PM
The Biden administration has announced plans to provide additional military and budget support to Ukraine, totaling $5.9 billion, as part of its final actions before the transition to the incoming Trump administration. This package follows a previous announcement of nearly $2.5 billion in military aid made on December 30, 2024, and includes $5.2 billion in additional support announced earlier, along with $2 billion from the previous week. The White House, through its strategic communications coordinator John Kirby, has indicated that further security assistance announcements for Ukraine are expected in the coming days. The aid is aimed at bolstering Ukraine's position in its ongoing conflict with Russia, with the U.S. having committed over $175 billion in total assistance to Ukraine since the start of the war. The latest package includes HAWK air defense munitions, munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS), and Stinger missiles.
