Google Unveils Trillium, Sixth-Gen TPU with 4.7x Performance Boost, Available Late 2024
May 14, 2024, 05:51 PM
Google has announced Trillium, its sixth-generation Tensor Processing Unit (TPU), during the Google I/O event. Trillium delivers a 4.7x improvement in compute performance per chip over the previous generation, TPU v5e, and is 67% more energy-efficient. Additionally, it boasts twice the high-bandwidth memory capacity. The new TPU is expected to significantly enhance AI data center performance, promising nearly five times the performance of the fifth-generation TPU. Trillium will be available to Google Cloud customers in late 2024.
