Three Migrants, Including Tren de Aragua Gang Members, Arrested for Murder of Luis Alberto Olivas García at Precos-Samalayuca Checkpoint
Dec 31, 2024, 10:45 AM
Mexican authorities have arrested three migrants suspected of murdering a federal immigration agent, Luis Alberto Olivas García, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. The incident occurred at the Precos-Samalayuca checkpoint when Olivas García and other agents requested identification from a group of migrants. The suspects, identified as two Venezuelan men, Ismael 'N' and Carlos 'N', and a Colombian man, Carlos 'N', allegedly attacked Olivas García with rocks after refusing to comply with the inspection, leading to his death from a head injury. The two Venezuelan suspects are believed to be members of the Tren de Aragua gang. Olivas García had been recognized for 30 years of service earlier on the day of his death. The arrests were made following a coordinated operation involving state and federal forces. The attack took place just weeks before the anticipated immigration crackdown by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
