Colorado Reaches First Bowl Since 2016 with 34-23 Win; Travis Hunter Scores Twice
Oct 27, 2024, 05:46 AM
The Colorado Buffaloes secured bowl eligibility for the first time since 2016 with a 34-23 victory over Cincinnati. Under head coach Deion Sanders, in his second season, the Buffaloes improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the Big 12, marking a significant turnaround for a program that won only one game prior to his arrival. Travis Hunter delivered an outstanding two-way performance, recording nine receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns on offense, while also contributing four pass breakups on defense. He celebrated one of his touchdowns with a Spider-Man-themed celebration and played 130 snaps, showcasing his versatility. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders passed for 323 yards and three touchdowns, including a rushing score, extending his streak to 44 consecutive games with at least one touchdown pass. He also set a Colorado record with 15 straight completions to start the game and became the first player in school history with two 20-touchdown seasons. Kicker Alejandro Mata contributed field goals of 28 and 47 yards. With this win, Deion Sanders is set to receive $300,000 in bonuses, and Colorado remains in contention for the Big 12 championship game.
