Scott Ritter, a former US Marine Corps intelligence officer and RT Contributor, was prevented from traveling to Russia by the US State Department. Ritter was on his way to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) when he was taken off the plane in New York by three US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers who seized his passport. The officers informed Ritter that they were acting on orders from the State Department.
