Uvalde Families Announce $2M Settlement, Sue 92 State Officers Over Botched Response in 21 Deaths
May 22, 2024, 05:23 PM
Families of the victims of the Robb Elementary School mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, have announced a $2 million settlement with the city and county of Uvalde. The settlement includes commitments from city leaders to implement higher standards and better training for local police. Additionally, the families are filing a lawsuit against 92 Texas Department of Public Safety officers, the school principal, the school district, and former Uvalde schools police Chief Peter Arredondo for their botched response to the 2022 shooting. The families had previously secured $4 million in settlements. The announcement, made by attorney Josh Koskoff, comes just two days before the two-year anniversary of the tragic event that resulted in the deaths of 21 people.
