Wisconsin Investment Board Discloses $162M Bitcoin ETF Holdings in BlackRock and Grayscale
May 14, 2024, 02:48 PM
The State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) has disclosed a significant investment in Bitcoin ETFs, amounting to $162 million. This includes $99 million in BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) and $63 million in Grayscale's Bitcoin Trust (GBTC). The investment was revealed through SEC 13F filings and marks SWIB as the first state pension fund to make such a substantial allocation to Bitcoin. SWIB, established in 1951, manages the retirement savings of Wisconsin government workers and is the 9th largest pension fund in the United States. This move signifies a notable shift towards cryptocurrency by institutional investors.
