Bryan Reynolds' Second Consecutive Grand Slam Leads Pirates; Paul Skenes Sets MLB Record
Jul 6, 2024, 12:34 AM
Bryan Reynolds powered the Pittsburgh Pirates to a commanding lead with two home runs, including a grand slam, in their latest game. This marked Reynolds' second consecutive game with a home run. His grand slam also tied him with Bobby Bonilla for the most home runs by a Pirates switch-hitter, all-time. Reynolds has now hit 25 home runs on elevated fastballs since the start of the 2022 season, the second most in MLB. Additionally, Paul Skenes delivered an impressive performance, striking out eight batters over seven innings. Skenes has now recorded seven or more strikeouts in nine of his first ten career starts, setting a Major League record. His ERA stands at 2.12, and he has 78 strikeouts through ten games, matching Nolan Ryan's record. Skenes' record now stands at 7-0, with a 2.77 FIP and an OPS of 1.025 in the interim.
