VisitUkraine Says Russia Launched Non-Nuclear ICBM from Astrakhan at Dnipro, First Use in War
Nov 21, 2024, 08:03 AM
Ukraine's Air Force reports that Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the Astrakhan region targeting the city of Dnipro, marking the first use of such a weapon in the war. The Air Force did not specify which missile was used, but prior reports suggest it may have been an RS-26, with reentry vehicles observed hitting the city. The attack included a non-nuclear ICBM, a Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile that was not intercepted, and seven Kh-101 cruise missiles, of which six were shot down by Ukrainian defenses. There were no significant consequences reported from the attack.
