IRGC General Kiomars Pourhashemi (Haj Hashem), Commander of Iranian Advisors, Killed by HTS Rebels in Aleppo
Nov 28, 2024, 12:35 PM
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has confirmed that Brigadier General Kiomars Pourhashemi, also known as Haj Hashem, was killed in Syria during clashes with opposition forces in Aleppo. Pourhashemi served as the commander of Iranian military advisors in Syria. He was killed amid renewed fighting in northern Syria, particularly in the western Aleppo countryside, where rebels overran ten areas previously under the control of Syrian government forces. The IRGC stated that he was martyred in an attack by foreign-backed 'takfiri' militants, specifically Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). Reports also indicate that two high-ranking Syrian Arab Army officers were killed during the offensive.
