Apple Receives $13 Million in Tax Forgiveness from Chicago After Settling 2022 Lawsuit
May 17, 2024, 10:01 AM
Newly released documents reveal that Apple Inc. received at least $13 million in tax forgiveness from the city of Chicago. This tax forgiveness came after Apple settled a lawsuit in 2022 that claimed Chicago's 'Netflix tax' on streaming entertainment violated federal law. The forgiven taxes, interest, and penalties were related to popular services such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple Fitness over a seven-year period.
