Zhuhai Man Sentenced to Death for Killing 35 in Car Attack

On December 27, the Intermediate People's Court of Zhuhai sentenced Fan Weiqiu to death for endangering public safety by dangerous means. Fan had deliberately driven his car into a crowd at a sports center in Zhuhai on November 11, killing 35 people and injuring 43 others. The court held a public trial and found that he committed the act to vent private resentment stemming from a failed marriage and dissatisfaction with his divorce settlement.
