Zheng won the match 7-6(2), 4-6, 6-2, advancing to the quarterfinals. This victory makes her the third player representing an Asian country to reach back-to-back singles quarterfinals at the US Open in the Open Era, joining Vijay Amritraj and Kimiko Date.
