VisitYouTube TV Hikes Monthly Subscription Price to $82.99, Matching Hulu + Live TV
Dec 12, 2024, 11:56 PM
YouTube TV, a streaming service owned by Alphabet, has announced a significant price increase, raising its monthly subscription fee from $72.99 to $82.99, effective immediately for new subscribers and starting January 13, 2025, for existing customers. This marks a 14% increase, bringing the annual cost to nearly $1000. The company attributes this hike to 'rising content costs' and investments in service quality. Despite the price increase, YouTube TV will not add new channels to its current offering of over 100 channels, including unlimited DVR storage and up to six accounts per household. This adjustment follows a series of price hikes since its launch in 2017 at $35 per month, with the last increase to $72.99 in March 2023. YouTube TV currently has over 8 million subscribers. The move comes as streaming services across the board are becoming more expensive, with YouTube TV's new price matching that of Hulu's Hulu + Live TV package.
