Ethiopian runner Yomif Kejelcha set a new world record in the men's half marathon at the Medio Maraton de Valencia on October 27, 2024. Kejelcha clocked a time of 57 minutes and 30 seconds, shaving one second off the previous record of 57:31 held by Jacob Kiplimo since 2021. This achievement marks Kejelcha's second world record, following his previous record in the indoor mile. Kejelcha's split times for the race were 13:38 for 5K, 27:12 for 10K, 40:56 for 15K, and 54:32 for 20K.
