VisitYankees Fans Indefinitely Banned from MLB Stadiums for Grabbing Mookie Betts in Game 4 of World Series
Jan 10, 2025, 08:23 PM
Two New York Yankees fans, Austin Capobianco and John P. Hansen, have been indefinitely banned from all Major League Baseball (MLB) stadiums following an incident during Game 4 of the 2024 World Series on October 29, 2024. The fans grabbed Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts’ wrist and attempted to pry the ball from his glove after he caught a flyball near the stands in the first inning. The interference was ruled fan interference, and the fans were ejected from the game at Yankee Stadium. MLB officials stated in a letter that the conduct posed a serious risk to the health and safety of the player and went beyond acceptable fan behavior. The ban extends to all MLB facilities and events, with violators subject to arrest for trespassing. The Yankees organization also banned the individuals from Yankee Stadium and redistributed their Game 5 tickets, originally held by a season ticket holder, to a pediatric cancer patient and their family. The Dodgers went on to win the World Series in five games.
