X Names Legal Representative in Brazil, Takes Down Accounts Amid Efforts to Lift Ban

X, formerly known as Twitter, has named a legal representative in Brazil as part of its efforts to lift a ban imposed by Brazilian authorities. The company had until mid-August a legal representative in the country but decided to close its offices and fire its staff. Following a court ruling, X was given five days to validate its new representative. Additionally, X complied with demands to take down certain accounts and pay fines, actions that Elon Musk had previously vowed not to undertake. The company is now awaiting further instructions from Brazilian Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who has set additional conditions for lifting the ban. The New York Times reported on these developments.
