Detroit-based Wolverine Packing Co. has recalled approximately 167,277 pounds (about 83.5 tons) of ground beef products due to possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The recalled beef was shipped to restaurant locations nationwide and comes after at least 15 reported illnesses. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall, emphasizing the potential health risks to consumers ahead of Thanksgiving. This marks the fourth major foodborne illness-related recall in recent months. The affected products were both fresh and frozen ground beef, and consumers are urged to exercise caution with beef consumption during this period.
