VisitWithdrawn Indian Diplomat Denies Involvement in Sikh Leader's Murder, Criticizes Trudeau Govt
Oct 20, 2024, 02:39 PM
India's High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma, has denied any involvement in the murder of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was shot in British Columbia last year. In an interview with Canada's CTV, Verma stated that no evidence has been presented by Canadian authorities to substantiate the accusations, calling them 'politically motivated.' Verma emphasized that he has 'nothing at all' to do with the killing and criticized Canadian Foreign Minister's statements as political. He also mentioned that despite new accusations, India has not received any evidence from Canadian officials that could lead to a better understanding of the situation. Verma, who has been withdrawn from Canada, also addressed claims by the RCMP that Indian diplomats are involved in collecting information on Canadians, denying any such actions. He further criticized the Trudeau government and pointed out that Canadian officials who wanted to come to India on October 8 gave their visa application on the same day without sharing any agenda.
