Aug 7, 2024, 03:43 PM
For the first time in history, Winter Olympians received their gold medals at the Summer Olympics due to the resolution of the Kamila Valieva doping saga. A medal ceremony for figure skating from the 2022 Beijing Olympics took place in Paris, where medals were reallocated following a doping violation by 15-year-old Kamila Valieva of the Russian Olympic Committee. Valieva tested positive for a banned substance two months before the Beijing Olympics. As a result, Team USA was awarded their rightful gold medals, celebrated in front of cheering crowds in Paris.
