VisitWhite House Secures Release of 135 Political Prisoners in Nicaragua on Humanitarian Grounds, Headed to Guatemala
Sep 5, 2024, 12:40 PM
The White House has announced the release of 135 political prisoners in Nicaragua on humanitarian grounds, including 13 individuals affiliated with Mountain Gateway, a Texas missionary church. This follows pressure from various U.S. officials, including Representative Robert Aderholt, who had been advocating for the release of Nicaraguan pastors imprisoned since December 2023. The released prisoners will be sent to Guatemala before seeking lawful entry into other countries. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan called on the Ortega regime to cease imprisoning individuals for their religious and political beliefs. Representative Aderholt mentioned that the Hancock family is overjoyed and expects more details soon. Aderholt had previously discussed the issue on Fox News.
