Waymo Partners with Hyundai to Add US-Built IONIQ 5 to Robotaxi Fleet

Waymo, Alphabet's autonomous vehicle unit, has announced a new partnership with Hyundai Motor to integrate its fully autonomous technology into Hyundai's all-electric IONIQ 5. This deal will see Waymo adding the IONIQ 5 electric SUVs, built in the US, to its robotaxi fleet as it scales up its business in the United States. The multiyear agreement will involve on-road testing for the IONIQ 5 SUVs, starting in late 2025. This collaboration marks a significant step for Waymo in expanding its robotaxi services with advanced electric vehicles.
