Waymo Launches 24/7 Robotaxi Service in Los Angeles; Service Area Remains Limited

Waymo has opened its fully autonomous ride-hailing service to all users in Los Angeles, marking its largest expansion to date. The company announced that starting Tuesday, anyone in LA can use the Waymo One app to hail a driverless robotaxi without the need for waitlists or invite codes. The service operates 24/7 across nearly 80 square miles of Los Angeles County, spanning from downtown LA to Santa Monica. While this marks a significant expansion, the service area remains relatively small compared to the entirety of Los Angeles County. Previously, over 300,000 users were on a waiting list to access the service.
