VisitWalmart Launches 30-Minute Same-Day Prescription and Grocery Delivery, Expanding to 49 States by 2025
Oct 22, 2024, 12:34 PM
Walmart has announced the launch of nationwide same-day delivery for prescriptions and groceries, aiming to deliver orders to US homes in as little as 30 minutes. The service begins in six states—Arkansas, Missouri, New York, Nevada, South Carolina, and Wisconsin—with plans to expand to 49 states, excluding North Dakota, by January 2025, covering over 86% of US households. Walmart+ members will receive free delivery on pharmacy and grocery orders, while non-members will pay a fee of $9.95. This initiative leverages Walmart's extensive store footprint and is intended to increase its share of online spending, directly competing with Amazon's services. The move comes as CVS and Walgreens are closing hundreds of stores nationwide, positioning Walmart as a more significant player in the pharmacy market.
