VisitVolkswagen's Jochen Sengpiehl Detained and Deported from China After Testing Positive for Cannabis

Jochen Sengpiehl, Volkswagen's Chief Marketing Officer and head of product strategy for China, was detained for more than 10 days and subsequently deported from China after testing positive for cannabis. The incident occurred following Sengpiehl's return to Beijing from a holiday in Ko Samui, Thailand. Upon his return, he was mandated to receive a routine drug test by Chinese authorities, which led to his detention and deportation. Sengpiehl, 57, has since returned to Germany.
