VisitVince McMahon to Pay $1.7 Million in SEC Settlement Over Undisclosed Hush-Money Payments
Jan 10, 2025, 04:31 PM
Vince McMahon, the former CEO and co-founder of WWE who left the company under a cloud last year, has settled charges with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over undisclosed payments related to allegations of sexual assault. McMahon agreed to pay over $1.7 million, including a $400,000 civil penalty to the SEC and reimbursing WWE $1.33 million. The SEC alleged that McMahon signed two settlement agreements with women without disclosing them to WWE’s board of directors and company officials. McMahon referred to the charges as 'minor accounting errors.' An attorney for former WWE employee Janel Grant stated that the settlement confirms McMahon covered up 'horrifying behavior.' Despite the settlement, McMahon is still facing lawsuits.
