VisitVenezuela's Caracas Hit by Major Power Outage, Minister Ñáñez Blames Sabotage
Aug 30, 2024, 11:32 AM
Venezuela experienced a significant power outage affecting its capital, Caracas, and several other regions on Friday morning. The blackout impacted at least 13 regions, including Carabobo, and was reported to have affected all 24 states either completely or partially. The Venezuelan government, led by President Nicolás Maduro, attributed the power failure to sabotage of the national electric system. Minister Ñáñez described the event as a new act of sabotage. This incident is reminiscent of a similar large-scale blackout that occurred in March 2019, which had severe repercussions for the country's infrastructure and daily life.
