Aug 30, 2024, 01:10 PM
Venezuela experienced a major power outage affecting the capital, Caracas, and several other regions on Friday. The Venezuelan government, led by President Nicolas Maduro, attributed the blackout to sabotage by opposition forces. The outage, which began around 4:50 a.m., impacted all 24 states, affecting 90% of the country and leaving significant portions without electricity. Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello and Communication Minister Freddy Ñáñez both condemned the attack on the National Electric System, describing it as an act of terrorism. Reports indicated that 15 states were particularly affected. Efforts to restore power are underway, with the government prioritizing the capital for the resumption of services.
